When did you start drawing?
Early, around 8 or 9 years.

What's your favorite book?
A book of Russian fairytales.

4 cats.

What's your favorite food?
Chocolate cake.

What was your training or schooling?
The Ontario College of Art and Design, the University of Toronto, Sheridan College.

How did you become involved with children's books?
When I started to freelance.

Do you have any advice for young creators?
Draw constantly and be curious about everything.

What's your favorite movie?
Gone with the Wind.

What do you like best about creating kids books?
The imaginative process and the fun of it.

Where do you work?
At home.

How do you research or create your illustrations?
At the Toronto reference library; from my own files and from drawing the people (animals, plants, etc.,) around me --- or from my imagination.

Where do you get your ideas?
Again, from research and imagination.

What materials do you use to create your illustrations?
Acrylic, inks, pencil and pencil crayons, house paint, pastels. The paints and inks are a wet medium while the pencils and pastels are a dry medium.

What's your greatest childhood memory?
My grandmother cooking in the kitchen.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
A farmer or a veterinarian.

What is the weirdest or mot interesting job you've ever had?
Ambulance attendant.
