John Bindon - Illustrator

John Bindon

John Bindon graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1982 out of the communication and design department. His first high-profile work was creating illustrations for a 7Eleven plastic cup promotion depicting scenes from George Lucas's original Return of the Jedi 1983 theatrical release. He went on to produce a number of similar promotional series for films throughout the '80s and '90s, including Gremlins, The Flintstones and Jurassic Park, as well as for several sports affiliations, including the NFL, CFL, NHL and MLB.

In 1989 John's first book assignment was a dinosaur series which inspired him to pursue that subject matter in greater depth. To this day, John has twenty-five titles to his name with a number of well received accolades from his peers. A long standing association with Hall Train has led him into a number of museum and specialty televison projects, including murals, exhibits and video development work. In 1995 he contributed dinosaur character developmental designs for Disney's Dinosaur movie.

In addition to his book, museum and film work, he has also maintained a career in the commercial and advertising markets working in a number of fields, including editorial advertising and licensing, most notably in the calendar/stationery industry.

John and his wife, Frances, currently live in Burlington, Ontario.
