Actor Jerry Stiller selects Bagels from Benny
On January 20th, actor Jerry Stiller read Bagels from Benny by Aubrey Davis to a group of 100 children assembled at the Jewish Community Centre in New York City. Jerry Stiller was at the Jewish Community Centre, along with his wife, Ann Meara, to raise awareness for the upcoming launch of The PJ Library® branch in New York City.
Binky the Space Cat lifts off at Totsapalooza
On February 21st at the Revival Club in Toronto, Binky the Space Cat joined a celestial lineup of children’s authors and entertainers for this year’s Totsapalooza: The Space Age Rodeo Edition. Now in its second year, Totsapalooza brings together young children and provides them with an afternoon of readings, crafts and music. In between musical acts and crafts, Kids Can Press editor Tara Walker brought Binky to life with a lively reading to a sold-out crowd of over 500 children and parents, including Barenaked Ladies bassist, Jim Creeggan. Totsapalooza was presented by Small Print, an organization which runs literary programs for children and teens in the Toronto area.

Sharon Jennings to tour Ontario
Award-wining author Sharon Jennings will be bringing her just released picture book C’mere, Boy! — a funny and fetching tale of a dog who dreams of owning his very own boy — to schools across Ontario. Sharon is the author of more than 60 books for young people, including Bearcub and Mama. If you are interested in having Sharon visit your classroom please contact her at sharonjennings@sympatico.ca.
“There are plenty of giggles along the way, and the author’s revenge (not to mention Chester’s hiding place for her supplies) will elicit gales of laughter. A must purchase, especially where the first two are loved.”
      — Kirkus starred review of Chester’s Masterpiece
“Simply put, I would’ve loved this book when I was a kid. It would have made me want to be a scientist.”
      — Discover magazine’s blog “Bad Astronomy” review of Evolution
“You don't need to reinvent the wheel for a great detective story, but you do need a terrific sense of style. Jack Lime's got it in spades.”
      — Booklist starred review of The Adventures of Jack Lime
“... filled with witty, insightful, playful and on-target poems. Think Again should be forced into the hands of every sensitive, soul-searching teen.”
      — Quill and Quire starred review of Think Again
My favourite KCP book is The Imaginary Garden
The Imaginary Garden inspires, informs, and educates through meaningful text and rich, expressive illustrations. There are many ways to use and share the beauty of this stellar picture book. As a bookseller, I recommend it to teachers because it can be used as a springboard for creative Math and Botany units. I recommend it to parents and grandparents because it sensitively addresses the connections shared between generations. A gem.”
